Winterizing your hives

This process starts in mid August just after honey removal.

  1. Varoa mite

    evaluation and treatment if necessary
  2. Begin feeding

for winter. You want your bees to be as strong as possible with Yong quality bees. Chemical contamination is a huge issue here.
  3. Consolidate to wintering yards

  4. Compact hives on pallets

  5. Wrap hives.

The need for this option will depend on your location. Warm dry climates may not need to wrap. Here are some wrapping options

    • Tar paper

    • Mylar bubble rap

    • Commercial wraps
